Snake vs. Linear: What's the Difference?
Snake drafts reverse the pick order each round. The team that picked last in Round 1 picks first in Round 2, then last again in Round 3. This is the standard for fantasy football because it balances early-round value across every roster.
Linear drafts keep the same pick order every round. Team 1 always picks first, Team 12 always picks last. Linear order is common in auction leagues and dynasty rookie drafts, where the pick slot matters less because talent gaps are smaller.
Randomizing the draft order matters because pick position materially affects your team's ceiling in redraft leagues. A biased draw hands one manager a permanent edge, which is why fair leagues use a uniform shuffle — the same math this generator runs.
